Dear Friends of the International Carnival of Pozitivities (ICP):
It is a tremendous pleasure to announce the publication of edition 2.9 of the ICP at the following link:
rosemaryrowe.typepad.com/cream...o.html
Creampuff, a.k.a., Roro, who hails from Vancouver, is our first repeat host from Canada. I encourage you to bookmark this edition and visit it over time so that you can enjoy each of the contributions from the world of HIV/AIDS. I hope that you will also join me in thanking Roro for her work this month. We “met” about 2 years ago during the NHL Hockey Championship between Edmonton and the Carolina Hurricanes and have been fast friends since despite some rather competitive invocation of mojo to make our teams win the Stanley Cup. Roro’s sense of compassion combined with her sense of humor makes me quite happy to count her among my friends.
This 21st consecutive edition of the ICP features personal accounts, video, a special musical contribution from UK band Slovo, self-help information and the latest in news from the HIV/AIDS community. I hope that you will spend some time reading and that you will leave comments for the contributors. It is through your comments that we can hone our messages and learn how you feel about our work. Please feel free to leave your thoughts with each of the contributors and for our gracious host.

We are now accepting submissions for edition 2.10 to be hosted here, at Mshairi:
www.mshairi.com/blog
This will be Mshairi’s first stint as host of the ICP although she has been a frequent contributor in the past. Mshairi’s edition will mark the first time that the ICP will have been hosted by an African host. If you like poetry, you should scroll through her blog. A selection of her poetry also appears at one of my favorite sites, The Other Voices Poetry International Project, an anthology of poetry from around the world that has been recognized by UNESCO, here:
www.othervoicespoetry.org
Mshairi's work appears under the title “Footprints” here:
othervoicespoetry.org/vol27/m...dex.html .
Contribute Your Work
Please join the growing community of contributors and hosts for this important international forum for genuine voices of AIDS. If you are interested in hosting the ICP, please email me at ron.hudson@verizon.net with the subject listed as “Volunteering to Host the ICP” and I will make the process for you as fun and rewarding as possible. We urgently need new volunteer hosts for the ICP editions after April, 2008. I will work with you to make the process as painless as it can be whether you are a first-time or returning host.

Re: ICP 2.9 now available at Creampuff Revolution
Mon, March 17, 2008 - 1:39 PMI think we should start looking at healing, and not embracing a harmful life changing 'belief' that can effect the life of people in unpleasant ways.
For those ready to heal 'from,' and not dance and party about it -- my response:

Re: ICP 2.9 now available at Creampuff Revolution
Mon, March 17, 2008 - 5:33 PMDear TerryTown,
I believe in free speech and encourage everyone to seek their own truth. For the vast majority of people, scientific knowledge is a trump card over disease. A fictitious account of the so-called "AIDS-myth" might make for good reading, but it is important to seek medical advice when dealing with HIV. Many in the AIDS dissident movement do not believe that HIV is the cause of AIDS. That is their right. I am not one of them.
The ICP presents useful ways of dealing with life with HIV and its very-difficult-to-manage dosage regimens. It is often written in the voices of those who are on the frontlines and in the trenches...taking meds, living with stigma, etc. Even if you don't believe in HIV, the ICP offers other information that may be useful to you. I encourage you to read.
All of my friends who stopped their meds died. You will hear this from many other people. That is my truth and the one that I have to live with. After 22 years of HIV and more that 15 years on medications to fight HIV, I am still here. I have issues where my body is breaking down, but I am alive and the sole survivor of a group of 12 who were infected around the same time in the 1980s. We were dying before the meds came out and we are still dying today, only 20+ years later than in the past. Anti-HIV treatment has to be considered like chemotherapy. It won't make everyone a survivor, but it does help many, including those who deny treatment until just about too late and then start the meds.
Thank you for presenting an alternative view. I wish I could share it, but I can not. I think we have in common a desire to see a true cure developed, and perhaps we will be able to celebrate together when that happens.

Re: ICP 2.9 now available at Creampuff Revolution
Mon, March 17, 2008 - 11:53 PMRon, I'm not attempting to shatter your experience or, those you've known and love. But...considering that this tribe is called: "Natureboys: queer men outdoor sports," I think maybe this topic would be best suited for this tribe:
questioningaids.tribe.net/
My reason for following a response to your post -- here -- is because this tribe focuses on the healing, better living, outdoors, nature, and being better intuned with the good of living naturally, and being connected with nature. As so, my link, also offered the same alternative to living.
But your post would be best suited for site I'd mentioned. I understand your passion, but there's always more to what we 'see.'
Did you listen to the audio broadcast? I too, was once of the same adamant belief as you, until I allowed my so-called "open mind," to listen to what I didn't consider before.

Re: ICP 2.9 now available at Creampuff Revolution
Tue, March 18, 2008 - 6:31 AMI agree with you that living naturally would be an alternative that many would love to share with you. It just is not possible for many of us. We can always supplement our medications with yoga, stretching, exercise, good hydration, avoidance of drugs and alcohol and good nutrition. Those activities do help tremendously with the side effects of our medications.
I am not an AIDS dissident nor a denialist. I am not questioning the current model of AIDS. I AM questioning the current state of treatment and hoping for better in the future. I am also questioning the myth that HIV does NOT exist and the implication that you do not need to protect yourself from a virus if it does not exist. Rising rates of infection among gay men between 18 and 24 seem to prove that we are dropping the ball on this.
As for participation in this forum, I am willing to move my post if your group feels that HIV/AIDS is not an issue for this forum. I will remind you of my previous statement that the ICP, although primarily focused on HIV/AIDS, is not exclusively related to the disease. We advocate a whole-body approach to HIV/AIDS (or any disease) and our articles include addiction recovery information and other self-help topics. The intent of the carnival is to bring in people who do not normally think about HIV/AIDS and to get their participation in helping us remove the stigma of the disease through interaction and participation.
I am also open to moving my posts to the listing section of this site, if that would suit you better. In reviewing your activity, it would appear that you are as passionate about anti-HIV articles as I am about the opposite. Perhaps we are both in the wrong forum?
Ron
